Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

We’re hiring on behalf of a leading global payments fintech modernising its platform with an AI-first engineering approach. You’ll be embedded within a cross-functional team working on a large-scale transformation to event-driven microservices on AWS, ensuring quality is built in from the earliest stages through to validating outcomes at production scale.

• Act as the quality lead within a cross-functional squad, working closely with developers and the Product Owner
• Challenge and refine acceptance criteria before development begins, ensuring requirements are testable and complete
• Identify missing scenarios, edge cases, and failure modes during backlog refinement
• Develop deep domain understanding to anticipate where issues will arise
• Design and implement business-critical test scenarios, including complex edge cases and boundary conditions
• Write test automation code and integrate it directly into CI/CD pipelines
• Design and execute parity testing between legacy and new platforms, validating real business outcomes
• Select representative transaction datasets to validate system behaviour at scale
• Keep test suites lean, fast, and maintainable, removing low-value or brittle tests
• Review and improve test coverage with developers, identifying gaps early
• Own and report on quality metrics and risk visibility within the team

• Proven experience as a QA Engineer, Test Engineer, or SDET in hands-on roles
• Strong ability to write test automation code (not just execute tests)
• Experience designing test strategies and automation frameworks
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data models, specifications, and event schemas
• Experience working in Agile delivery teams, contributing to refinement and shaping requirements
• Practical experience integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines
• Solid understanding of event-driven architectures and associated challenges (ordering, idempotency, eventual consistency)
• Experience working with Kafka (producing, consuming, validating message flows)
• Strong SQL skills for data validation, reconciliation, and financial accuracy checks
• Experience xcfaprz working with Docker and containerised test environments
• Familiarity with modern testing tools such as JUnit, REST Assured, Testcontainers, or similar
• Pragmatic approach to quality, focusing on confidence over volume of tests
• Experience in payments, financial services, or acquiring platforms
• Experience supporting platform migration or legacy replacement validation
• Exposure to performance or load testing
