Description
This BI Analyst will provide support in producing data relations, advanced query processes, and SQL scripts to extract and compare geographic information systems (GIS) and business data from the Headquarters Installation Information System (HQIIS). Through data analysis, including the use of Microsoft Business Intelligence (Power BI), The BI Analyst identifies data patterns and trends in source data to guide, advise, and provide input to senior analysts, training specialists, and software developers. The analyst will have a crucial role in developing the Business Intelligence (BI) reports and tools, generating and compiling data repositories, and identifying data patterns and trends in available information sources. The BI analyst will create reports, statistics, and tools used in GIS analysis and reporting BI tools and will coordinate with the Senior Management Analyst to develop business rules to resolve common error trends. The BI Analyst will help develop slide decks and present findings and recommendations to installation and Headquarters personnel. Although this is a remote position, the BI Analyst may be expected to travel periodically to interface with customers (one to two times a year).
The BI Analyst should have the capability to perform the following tasks:
• Create visualizations that improve business insights and business decisions
• Collect, organize, and maintain data and reporting according to best practices
• Perform data extract, transform, and load (ETL)
• Research new business intelligence techniques, tools, and processes
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional business requirements
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities
• Create ad-hoc reports and analysis
• Organize and brief findings to the government customer
• Train customers on using BI technology (MS Power BI)
• Create training material and training manuals for BI tools developed
Requirements
• Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or other technical or business field
• Power BI Certification strongly preferred
• Advanced SQL skills and the ability to write complex, optimized queries
• Advanced DAX skills and understanding of Power Query and M-code
• Understanding of design and visualization best practices
• Experience in presenting visualizations in an effective manner with exceptional speaking skills
• Experience in building data models using Power BI on-premises and cloud
• Strong analytical skills with an understanding of statistical modeling and analysis
• Experience with GIS technology (specifically ESRI products) preferred but not required
• Experience in reconciling systems data
• Experience with Army Accountable Property Systems of Record (APSRs) preferred but not required
• Experience in creating extensive and expressive visualizations for conveying complex analysis
• 4-5 years of experience in a Data Analyst or similar role, performing ETL and working with MS SQL, MS Power BI on-premises and in Azure Cloud environment
• Experience in building ML models with cloud-based tools including Python
• Experience with Design Thinking
• Experience in technical writing

Salary Description
$80 - $95K/yr
