The Opportunity
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will develop and evolve the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This individual‑contributor role requires strong coding skills and hands‑on work with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Function as an individual contributor within the team: actively collaborate with peers through thorough code reviews, provide constructive support and mentorship, and contribute to a unified technical direction for the platform. Also collaborate with feature teams to facilitate adoption of platform features.
- Architect, design, and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform, treating infrastructure as a sophisticated software system and ensuring consistent, repeatable provisioning.
- Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters on GCP (GKE) and AWS (EKS), including node groups, network policies, service meshes, upgrades, high availability, and security.
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform components, integrating tools such as Argo CD or Atlantis, and optimizing deployment performance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve platform‑related issues, including performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security vulnerabilities.
- Drive automation initiatives to eliminate manual operational tasks, reduce human error, and improve system reliability.
- Act as a strategic partner to development teams, understanding and addressing their infrastructure needs and translating those into platform product features and roadmaps.
- Drive development of internal platform product and services, including design, code, test, and deploy of internal tools and APIs.
- Implement and enforce rigorous security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards such as SOC 2 and GDPR.
Qualifications
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with proven hands‑on coding experience.
- 6+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or related roles, building and maintaining complex cloud infrastructure.
- Hands‑on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.
- Expertise in building scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure focused on automation and efficiency.
- Programming proficiency in Go or Typescript (or other relevant languages) with knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar, and deep understanding of CI/CD principles.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Extensive experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) and diagnosing performance issues.
- Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments.
- Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.
- Self‑organized, goal‑oriented, and self‑motivated.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote and distributed team.
- Prior experience on platform engineering projects.
