Senior Project Manager - AI Program Delivery d/f/m

RWE AG, Essen
To start as soon as possible, full time / part time, fixed term (2 years)

For over 125 years, RWE has been reliably supplying electricity. Our team of around 20,000 people is shaping the energy world of tomorrow. Today, RWE is one of the world's leading renewable energy companies. With our growth strategy we are setting the pace and investing billions of euros every year – above all in the expansion of offshore and onshore wind, solar energy and battery storage. Our diverse portfolio is perfectly complemented by our global energy trading business. With our mix of renewable and flexible generation, as well as a broad pipeline of new-build projects across all technologies and core markets, we are well positioned to meet the growing global energy demand, especially as electrification and artificial intelligence gain momentum. At the same time, we are contributing to the decarbonisation of the energy system. The reduction of our carbon emissions is in line with the 1.5°C climate goal of the Paris Agreement, and we are phasing out coal responsibly by 2030. By 2040, RWE aims to achieve net-zero, fully embracing our purpose ‘Our energy for a sustainable life'.

If you're passionate about driving meaningful change through AI and data, and you thrive in complex environments, this role will empower you to shape the future of AI across our business. You'll get the chance to manage large-scale AI projects, bridge strategy and execution, and play a key role in embedding responsible AI practices into everything we do. We at RWE are looking for a collaborative organiser who enjoys building bridges between teams and inspiring progress.

  • Lead complex AI projects from start to finish, taking responsibility for planning, budgeting, resource allocation, delivery and reporting - always aligned with our Data & AI strategy and objectives.
  • Apply and share best-practice project management standards across diverse project teams to enable successful scaling throughout the organisation.
  • Act as the link between all key stakeholders, including senior management, external partners and internal teams, ensuring effective and transparent communication.
  • Work closely with our People & Culture teams to create lasting, sustainable change in our AI programmes.
  • Bring the AI use case pipeline to life by launching projects with clear plans, accountability, and resources.
  • Manage the AI delivery calendar, proactively spotting and escalating risks across business pillars before they impact delivery.
  • Oversee external AI vendors and partners, tracking milestones and deliverables with confidence.
  • Take charge of steering committee processes, status reporting to Data & AI Boards, and cross-OpCo alignment.

  • At least five years' experience in IT project management within large, complex enterprises - demonstrated success delivering strategic projects such as M&A integration, digitalisation, or AI/data programmes.
  • Hands-on experience steering AI or data projects - comfortable navigating model development, MLOps, and data dependencies without needing to be a technical expert.
  • Proven ability to coordinate delivery in a Centre of Excellence or Hub model, collaborating across business units or subsidiaries.
  • Confident communicator and stakeholder manager across technical, commercial, legal, and enablement teams - including with senior leadership.
  • Experienced operating successfully within matrix organisations, influencing without direct authority.
  • A strong integrator who enjoys connecting teams and enabling collaboration, even in uncertain or fast-changing environments.

  • Project management and change certifications (e.g. IPMA, Scrum, PRINCE2, Lean, GreenBelt).
  • AI literacy certification or specific AI training (such as "AI for Leaders").

  • Independent work on exciting and responsible tasks.
  • Close collaboration in a motivated team with an open feedback culture that promotes your personal and professional development.
  • Insights into a global energy company.
  • Hybrid working and flexible working time models.
  • Free access to the Health Center, modern open workspaces, free parking, e-charging stations and much more.
