Software Engineering Manager
The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Software Engineering team based in Arlington, TX under the Technology and Product Development (TPD) organization with overall technical, resources allocation, budget and schedule responsibilities to develop applications and solutions associated with mission simulation, synthetic environments, flight training, and mission planning deployed as containerized micro services applications. A high degree of software development experience, management acumen, organization ability, communication skills, and general business aptitude are essential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Manage a high-performing engineering team using Agile methodologies Support the development of cutting-edge software to solve complex problems for company IR&D and Department of Defense projects Provide individual group members with technical direction, coordination and direction to successfully complete assigned tasks Ensure that staffing needs are aligned with commitments, performance reviews, and the development plan Support the interview process and staffing hiring Support development of Statements of Work and participates in proposal reviews Develop the talent pipeline, drive corporate culture and lead all employee management activities Interface with the customer to provide technical direction, documentation, and iterative demonstration of capabilities Monitor the group's projects deliverables budget and schedule Support cost estimates for components and reference solutions Support continuous improvement initiatives Must be eligible for DoD Security Clearance Qualifications and Education Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, software, or computer science Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience or a Master's degree in engineering or computer science with 5 years of software engineering experience Excellent organizational and time management skills, allowing them to lead multiple employees and multitask Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong team player Experience with software project management Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. Preferred Skills: Experience working with at least one modern JavaScript framework, Angular, React, Vue, etc Experience working with RESTful APIs such as Flask, Node.js, or C# ASP.Net Experience with container runtime environments such as Docker and container-orchestration systems such as Kubernetes Experience with event messaging brokers such as Kafka and RabbitMQ Experience in software integration and/or software testing Experience deploying software to cloud platforms using containerized software modules in DevSecOps pipelines Familiarity working with geospatial data using GDAL, Geoserver, OpenLayers, Leaflet, or Cesium Familiarity with database systems like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc. Security Responsibilities: Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources. Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. Work Environment: Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility. Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required. The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
