*Job Overview*
Stewardship is seeking an experienced *Technology Operations Manager* to lead and strengthen our day‑to‑day technology operations, ensuring our systems are reliable, secure and easy to use for colleagues serving churches, charities and Christian workers across the UK.
You’ll lead our End User Computing and Systems Administration teams, taking ownership of core platforms including Microsoft 365, Azure, on‑prem infrastructure and business‑critical SaaS systems. This is a hands‑on leadership role focused on operational excellence, security, resilience and continuous improvement.
*What you’ll be doing:*
* Leading and developing a high‑performing technology operations team
* Ensuring stable, secure and well‑managed IT platforms
* Overseeing patching, monitoring, backups and incident response
* Strengthening cyber security, risk management and disaster recovery
* Working closely with data and product teams to support change safely across systems, services and platforms.
*About you:*
* Significant experience in a technology or IT operations role (typically 5+ years or equivalent)
* Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using structured, analytical problem‑solving
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft-centric environments, including Windows, on‑prem, hybrid and cloud setups
* Experience managing or supporting core platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure and business‑critical systems
* Good understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g. routing, switching, VLANs and firewalls)
* Experience operating secure, reliable technology environments with effective patching, monitoring and lifecycle management
* Solid understanding of cyber security principles, including endpoint protection, identity security and vulnerability management
* Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL and a commitment to well‑run, consistent processes
* Experience working in hybrid or distributed teams, providing high‑quality support regardless of location
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non‑technical colleagues
* Understanding of UK regulatory, compliance and governance requirements relevant to technology operations
* Experience proactively monitoring live services and driving continuous operational improvement
* Willing and able to travel to a co‑location data centre in Reading approximately once per month, with occasional out‑of‑hours support
