About UsWelcome to Easthorpe School , an independent specialist provision dedicated to supporting children and young people in the East Midlands. We cater to those living with their families, foster carers, or in residential children's homes.
Since opening our doors in November 2022, we are excited to expand our team to accommodate the growing number of pupils in our Lower School (ages 7-13). With class sizes capped at just six pupils, each classroom is supported by a qualified teacher and up to two teaching assistants.
Our mission is to nurture pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and various diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and more. This is your chance to make a real difference in their lives!
Your RoleThis is an incredible opportunity for experienced teaching assistants to help shape our new provision and enrich the lives of our pupils. You’ll have the chance to:
- Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six.
- Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
- Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with staff to meet their needs.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including school trips.
- Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
- Set and mark work as appropriate.
- Build positive relationships that drive interaction and learning outcomes.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
- Confidence to take on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, or School Yoga.
- Skills in behaviour management and techniques.
- A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
- A readiness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
At Easthorpe School, we prioritize the emotional health and wellbeing of everyone in our community, including you! Here’s what you can expect:
- A supportive environment that values your professional growth through diverse opportunities.
- The chance to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children who deserve high-quality education.
- A friendly, inclusive team passionate about improving pupil outcomes.
The successful candidate will complete an enhanced DBS Check, with costs covered by Selwyn Hall School.
Easthorpe School is an equal opportunities employer and encourages applications from qualified candidates. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff to share this commitment.
