Washington, D.C. is looking for a skilled Material Handler to join our busy logistics hub. This role is vital for ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods within our facility. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including receiving, storing, and dispatching materials. This includes operating forklifts and other material handling equipment, as well as performing manual tasks such as lifting, carrying, and organizing inventory. A strong emphasis will be placed on safety; you must be knowledgeable of and strictly adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and demonstrate safe operating procedures for all equipment. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the efficient flow of materials to support our logistics operations. The ideal candidate is physically fit, capable of consistent lifting up to 50 lbs, and possesses excellent hand-eye coordination. We are seeking individuals who are reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics setting is highly preferred. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Move materials to and from designated storage areas.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and dispatching inventory.
- Perform manual lifting and carrying of materials as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any issues.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Utilize and ensure the proper use of PPE.
- Support inventory management activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a material handler or in a warehouse/logistics role.
- Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Ability to perform consistent lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Good physical stamina and coordination.
- Reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and logistics.
- Excellent work ethic and attitude.
