Role Overview
The Construction Estimator is responsible for supporting accurate and timely cost estimates for interior renovation projects, with a strong focus on multifamily unit renovations and apartment suite turnovers. This role works closely with Project Managers and internal teams to review project scopes, analyze costs, and ensure estimates align with project requirements and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate, and analyze renovation projects based on scopes of work provided by Project Managers.
- Assist in preparing and updating cost estimates for ongoing and upcoming interior renovation projects.
- Identify anomalies, issues, and cost discrepancies, and provide recommendations and solutions to senior staff or the direct manager.
- Support the analysis of materials allocated to active projects to ensure accuracy in materials distribution and usage.
- Maintain accurate records and updates within the company’s project and estimating database.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to coordinate project information and support preparation for upcoming renovation projects.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret project data to identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and process improvements.
- Work with scheduling and project management teams to review and assess ongoing project performance and cost data.
- Develop and implement solutions to address cost variances or operational issues in renovation projects.
- Update and revise estimates and quotes based on client requests or scope adjustments.
Qualifications and Requirements
- College diploma or university degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of residential interior renovations and unit turnover processes .
- Familiarity with construction materials and renovation terminology is required (e.g., plumbing connections, paint sheens, click vs. glue-down flooring, etc.).
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, clients, Project Managers, and internal teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) .
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
