Our local teams of social workers are always nearby, providing consistent support, regular group meetings, and family events that foster a strong sense of community. Our Glasgow office, rated ‘Very Good ’ by the Care Inspectorate, serves foster families and children across Glasgow, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, Dunbartonshire, Inverclyde, Argyll, and Bute.
Your RoleAs a Supervising Social Worker, you will:
- Support foster carers and their families to achieve outstanding outcomes for children and young people in foster care.
- Monitor the suitability and competence of foster carers, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
- Provide regular supervision to allocated foster carers in line with Fosterplus’ Operational Standards.
- Work collaboratively to identify needs within foster families, contributing to relevant meetings and tasks.
- Ensure compliance with all key documentation for each child and foster carer.
- Attend meetings and provide reports for commissioning teams regarding individual care packages.
- Promote the participation of children and young people in agency development and community resources.
- Participate in an ‘out of hours’ support service on a rota basis.
- Conduct occasional initial home visits and Form F Assessments.
You must have:
- A Social Work qualification.
- Professional registration with SSSC or equivalent.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality reports.
- A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and child safeguarding procedures.
- The willingness and ability to travel extensively.
- Confidence in transporting children and young people in challenging situations.
- A full driving licence and unrestricted access to your own vehicle.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Remains calm under pressure, especially in emotionally challenging situations.
- Demonstrates strong professional curiosity.
- Engages others and works collaboratively with creativity.
- Makes timely and effective decisions and leads by example.
- Knows when to consult with or defer to others.
We offer a competitive salary of up to £35,500 per annum , depending on experience, along with fantastic benefits:
