We are looking for a diligent Receiving Clerk to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for incoming goods, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the receiving process. Your responsibilities will include unloading shipments, verifying contents, and preparing items for distribution. This position is fundamental to our logistics operations and requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to Safety. We offer a competitive hourly rate and a stable work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from trucks and trailers in a timely manner.
- Verify the quantity and quality of received goods against shipping documents and purchase orders.
- Inspect shipments for damage and discrepancies, documenting any issues.
- Enter receiving data into the warehouse management system (WMS) accurately.
- Stage received materials for put-away or further processing within the warehouse.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized receiving area, ensuring compliance with all Safety protocols.
- Wear and properly utilize all required PPE, including safety vests and gloves.
- Follow established procedures for manual handling and Lifting of received items.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal logistics teams regarding receiving activities.
- Assist with inventory counts and reconciliations as needed.
- Participate in training programs focused on improving receiving processes and Safety awareness.
The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills. Experience in a receiving or warehouse role is preferred.
