The Software Architect will design and implement technology solutions that align with product and domain roadmaps for the organization. The role requires expertise in Java, Spring, RESTful APIs, and platform engineering to drive architecture, quality, and operational excellence across complex systems. The architect will own vendor relationships for third-party platforms, ensure performance, scalability, and security, and mentor engineers while contributing to continuous improvement. The position supports an on-site line of business and collaborates across squads to deliver resilient microservices and integrations.

Rate: $70.00 to $75.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:
Define long-term product and domain technical vision and lead execution toward that vision. Design solutions with line-of-business and IT squads to incorporate software changes and ensure effective implementation. Consult with Product Owners on the technology roadmap and advise on utilization or retirement of in-house and third-party solutions. Serve as primary liaison with software vendors for assigned business systems and manage impacts of upcoming vendor changes. Implement and maintain features and capabilities while improving quality of technical products and services. Follow and refine best practices and standards, and contribute within communities of practice. Automate processes and build maintainable, supportable, and testable solutions for operational excellence. Stay current with technology trends and innovations in relevant fields. Provide operational support and troubleshooting for team products and services. Coach, mentor, and train new or less experienced team members. Design and document overall solution architectures aligned to business objectives and requirements. Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and security standards. Identify reuse and collaboration opportunities across teams to improve processes and capabilities beyond a single team. Operate as a trusted advisor and go-to resource for specific technologies, topics, or domains. Experience Requirements:
3 to 5 years of experience with Java 17 or higher. 3 to 5 years of experience with Spring Framework 6.x and Spring Boot 3.x. 3 to 5 years of RESTful API development and back end for front ends. 1 to 3 years of experience with microservice-oriented architecture and development. 1 to 2 years of experience working in agile or scrum teams. 1 to 3 years of experience with Test Driven Development using JUnit. Prior experience with Git, GitHub, Jenkins, and JFrog. Experience working with third-party COTS and internally built applications. Deep understanding of reactive architecture principles and microservice design. Knowledge of decentralized and asynchronous data flows, warehousing best practices, and data security for data movement. Experience with container-hosted applications in hybrid cloud or on-premise environments. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and squads. Deep understanding of IT security best practices. Experience analyzing legacy platforms, documenting current state, and translating processes into modern architectures. Experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex technical solutions. Ability to provide technical coaching and guidance to junior engineers. Banking or financial services background (preferred). Experience with core banking platforms such as deposit systems, debit card processing, ATM, check processing, or client billing (preferred). Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technology field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
