Job Description About Us Join GM in pioneering the next generation of embedded platform software designed to deliver cutting-edge Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features for our customers. The Autonomy Interface Software (AIS) team is dedicated to developing runtime software that ensures robust interface contracts, transitions during system degradation, and seamless integration of sensing technologies with our autonomy stack. The Role As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, document, and implement complex, highly scalable, and low-latency software using C++ on Linux-based systems for the AIS team. Your contributions will form the foundational software on which GM's Autonomous Vehicle (AV) stack will be built. Are you ready to tackle one of the most challenging engineering problems of our time? Your Responsibilities Develop software in C++ to establish connections between the autonomy stack, sensors, and custom vehicle hardware.
Enhance and deliver dependable software through requirements specification, continuous integration, automated testing, issue tracking, and code reviews.
Collaborate with teams across disciplines and mentor fellow developers.
Deliver complex projects through iterative development cycles.
Lead the creation of technical solutions, including specifying requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development, and testing for both ongoing and new projects.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for at least one platform or application component.
Communicate and promote best practices within the software community.
Lead software system design initiatives and address software anomalies.
Apply knowledge of and experience with software best practices.
Define and balance system requirements effectively.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) 4+ years of experience in writing production-quality software.
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience in building, testing, and deploying production software.
Knowledge of and experience with software best practices.
Ability to perform complex design analyses.
Preferred Qualifications 7+ years of relevant experience.
Experience developing on and for embedded Linux/POSIX systems.
Familiarity with safety-critical development (FDA, FAA, Automotive).
Experience with embedded build systems, such as Buildroot or Yocto.
Understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP and UDP.
Experience with ROS or other robotics middleware platforms.
Knowledge of other programming languages: C, Python, Bash, Go.
Familiarity with QNX, VxWorks, or similar Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
Experience working with Lidar, radar, and camera systems.
Familiarity with motion-sensing devices such as GNSS, IMUs, and wheel encoders.
Compensation:
The compensation mentioned is a good faith estimate based on what a successful applicant might earn, in line with applicable state laws. This may not reflect positions located outside New York, Colorado, California, or Washington. Salary Range:
$175,000 to $230,000. The final base salary offered will depend on various factors related to the position. Bonus Potential:
