TERRA SONIC - Quality Assurance Engineer
The QA Engineer at Terra Sonic International maintains a front-line presence in Terra Sonic's manufacturing departments. They work side by side with machinists, fabricators, assembly personnel, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure process controls are adequate and are being followed by manufacturing personnel. This position also participates in new product development to establish process controls and product verification methods. The primary measurement of success is the overall satisfaction of Terra Sonic's customers.
Responsibilities
Continuous improvement in product performance often drives rapid change in materials and processing methods. The quality Technician will participate in these activities to ensure process controls are updated to accommodate planned changes. Conduct periodic audits to verify compliance with procedures defined in Terra Sonic's QMS. Help maintain the non-conformance process. Assist in the development of work instructions, forms, and standard operating procedures. Perform process capability studies to monitor performance and prevent process drift. Track non-conformance costs, format data, recommend continuous improvement projects, coordinate project activity with department managers. Track customer feedback, format data, present to department managers, promote activity that produces positive feedback, recommend corrective action projects to remedy unfavorable feedback. Collect dimensional and attribute data associated with purchased components. Format data to aid in the assessment of supplier performance. Collaborate with Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and suppliers to establish practical measurement techniques to verify finished products comply with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing specified on TSI drawings. Well-rounded experience with quality topics common to manufacturing organizations: Blueprint reading to include the interpretation of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing Proficient with measurement devices; micrometers, dial bore gage, height gages, optical comparator, coordinate measuring machine, etc. First-article inspections, assist machinists & fabricators with critical/challenging measurements Participate in the development of FMEA & control plans Ensure calibration schedules are maintained for gages and measurement devices Auditing; processes, products, systems, customers Root cause analysis techniques; Fishbone Diagram, 5 Whys, Pareto Charts, etc. Participate in Lean/Six Sigma continuous improvement teams Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
Education and Experience
Associate's Degree in an applied science or engineering field Bachelor's Degree preferred 3-years prior experience as Quality Engineer or Quality Technician in a Manufacturing facility
