*Qualifications: *Special Education Teaching Certificate and Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education
*Reports to:* Director of Special Education
*Work Schedule:* 188 Days (Academic School Year) at 7.5 Hours / Day
*Function: *Provide targeted academic intervention and behavioral support to students with mild to moderate disabilities. This role focuses on closing the achievement gap through specialized instruction in foundational skills (reading, writing, math) while facilitating successful inclusion in the general education environment.
*Responsibilities:*
1. Collaborate with students, parents, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement IEPs focused on foundational academic and behavioral growth.
2. Plan and teach a program of study using research-based interventions (e.g., explicit phonics, multi-sensory math) consistent with child development and state standards.
3. Collaborate with grade-level staff to ensure students receive instruction in the Least Restrictive Environment, modifying Tier 1 curriculum to allow for meaningful participation with peers.
4. Collect, analyze, and report student data related to IEP goals, making real-time instructional adjustments as needed.
5. Provide guidance to general education teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, and positive behavior supports.
6. Utilize and integrate technology and adaptive equipment to support student access to the curriculum.
7. Provide consultation and support to address student behavior in various school environments and assist in crisis situations to ensure IEP safety provisions are met.
8. Serve as the primary point of contact for families, maintaining regular communication regarding academic progress and school-to-home strategies.
9. Maintain effective and efficient records to fulfill IDEA and state-required deadlines and administrative requests.
10. Provide instructional direction and scheduling for support staff, ensuring paraprofessional assistance is targeted toward IEP goal attainment.
