This position involves maintaining and monitoring the security practices and systems implemented by the firm while proactively identifying and mitigating cyber threats. With a strong emphasis on emerging technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) security, this role will work collaboratively with Technology and Innovation teams to design advanced security architecture and implement effective threat detection techniques. Position Responsibilities: Design and maintain an enterprise security architecture tailored for on-premises, hybrid, and AI-enabled environments. Define security standards, patterns, and reference architectures that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Conduct security architecture reviews for new systems, applications, AI/ML platforms, and major technology changes. Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, and data teams to integrate security, privacy, and governance into system design and delivery. Design security controls for AI and ML systems, including data pipelines and model training environments. Identify and mitigate risks related to AI systems, addressing challenges such as data leakage, model poisoning, and adversarial attacks. Evaluate and recommend security tools and platforms, focusing on AI-enabled security technologies. Ensure all architectures comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and industry frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and emerging AI regulations). Establish guardrails for the responsible and secure use of generative AI and large language models. Support incident response, forensic investigations, and improvements to architecture post-incident. Provide guidance and mentorship to security engineers and technical stakeholders. Communicate architectural decisions and security risks effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership. Participate in a 7x24 on-call rotation. Perform additional duties as assigned. Skills and Experience: Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, iManage, and other applications after onboarding at Cooley LLP. Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, as necessary, and travel as required. 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure, or systems architecture; Senior candidates with 5+ years of experience are also encouraged to apply. In-depth knowledge of network security, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and endpoint security. Capacity to translate business requirements into secure technical solutions. Extensive experience configuring security controls and migrating enterprise applications securely. Hands-on experience implementing various security tools and architectures, including Access Controls, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), and Anti-malware solutions. A deep understanding of monitoring and network security strategies. Experience with formal requirements definitions. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Familiarity with security frameworks and best practices, including NIST CSF, Mitre ATT&CK, and Zero Trust. Understanding of common security controls within the enterprise environment. Experience with incident response procedures and securing AI applications. Experience applying security frameworks to emerging technologies. Strong knowledge of security regulations and best practices such as the ISO 27000 series. Proven ability to lead and mentor others, providing technical guidance to project teams. Experience translating technical specifications to business clients. Relevant security certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc.) are a plus. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud security certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP). Competencies: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills. Goal-oriented with strong organizational capabilities. Excellent oral and written communication abilities, including user documentation. Ability to collaborate effectively across various levels of staff. Adaptable and patient with process development and project management adherence. The expected annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $175,000, dependent on geographic location, applicable experience, and candidate skillset. Senior candidates may qualify for a higher salary range based on their experience.
