We are looking for a meticulous and organized Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team in Washington, D.C. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and dispatch of all outgoing shipments. Your duties will include verifying order details, selecting appropriate packaging materials, preparing shipping labels, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining detailed shipping records. This position is vital to ensuring that our products reach their destinations efficiently and without damage. You will be working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail are paramount. We are committed to providing a safe working environment for all employees, and adherence to safety guidelines, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is mandatory. The ability to handle moderate lifting is often required as part of preparing shipments for transit. Responsibilities:
- Verify shipping orders against product being packed.
- Select appropriate packaging materials to ensure product safety during transit.
- Accurately generate shipping labels and documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate pick-ups with various shipping carriers.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Maintain organized shipping logs and inventory of shipping supplies.
- Ensure all outbound shipments comply with company and carrier regulations.
- Operate shipping equipment safely and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external carriers.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of required PPE.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping or a similar logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and basic computer skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Understanding of logistics and supply chain processes is a plus.
