Our Richmond, Virginia facility is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our fast-paced logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately preparing and documenting outgoing shipments, ensuring that all orders are processed correctly and efficiently. You will work closely with our warehouse associates and carriers to coordinate timely departures and maintain accurate shipping records. This position is crucial for ensuring customer satisfaction and the seamless flow of goods.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare shipping labels, bills of lading, and other shipping documents accurately.
- Verify that all outgoing shipments match customer orders and specifications.
- Coordinate with carriers for pick-up schedules and ensure timely departures.
- Inspect outgoing packages for proper packaging and labeling.
- Maintain organized and accurate shipping records.
- Communicate with other departments to resolve any shipping-related issues.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandated use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks when necessary.
- Operate shipping software and equipment efficiently.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the outbound logistics process.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar administrative/logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency in shipping software and basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with shipping regulations and carrier requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Understanding of warehouse safety practices and the importance of PPE.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be reliable and have excellent organizational skills.
