JOB SUMMARY: Serve as a subject matter expert and team lead within the perimeter security domain. Acquire and retain extensive knowledge of the tools, techniques and processes used to maintain an effective security program. Responsibilities include: Stay current with cybersecurity trends. Conduct proactive research to analyze security weaknesses and recommend appropriate strategies Design, configure and install next generation firewalls and associated software Cisco FTD Expertise in designing secure networks Collaborates with colleagues on authentication, authorization, and encryption solutions Manage, maintain, monitor and continuously improve enterprise perimeter security solutions. Ensure all controls are adequately configured to documented security standards and user compliance is consistently maintained. Technical solutions include, but are not limited to: Firewalls Site to Site VPN's Client-Server VPN Intrusion Prevention Systems Internet gateway malware protection URL filtering Web Proxy Cloud Access Security Broker Managed Security Services Maintain, manage and continuously improve UTMB's security event detection and response processes. Maintain feeds from critical systems and services. Identify suspicious and malicious events, establish and maintain baselines and alerting thresholds. Monitor for and respond to all malicious events Understanding complex technical issues and managing them within a fast-paced business environment Ability to communicate network security issues to peers and management Strong technical, organizational and communication skills Facilitate weekly firewall review and change control meetings Participate in change management committee meetings Serve as a senior member of the enterprise incident response and problem resolution team. Coordinate with departments throughout Information Services to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems associated with system availability Act as a project team lead for the design, configuration and deployment of enterprise security solutions Mentor junior personnel using knowledge transfer sessions, presentations and on the job training opportunities Report all instances of device and user non-compliance to the Office of Information Security As directed by the Chief Information Security Officer, assist with investigations relating to theft of information resources, abuse of computer systems and violation of the UTMB Information Security policy and/or any other privacy policies. Develop, maintain and comply with all documented policies, practice standards, processes and procedures Adhere to internal controls and reporting structure Performs related duties as required REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent and CCNP credentials Experience: Eight (8) years of related experience Certification: CCNP Security required or obtained within 6 months of hire Skills: Experience with Cisco Enterprise Security products (Firepower, WSA, Secure X, ASA), TCP/IP networking protocols and services such as OSPF, DNS, SMTP, DHCP, etc Basic knowledge of Windows, MacOS, Linux-variant operating systems such as the file system structure, system services, typical behavior of endpoints and servers Basic knowledge of cloud-based services such as Microsoft Office 365 and Azure productivity tools This is a contract position through UTMB HealthCare Systems Staffing (the in-house staffing agency for UTMB). There are no benefits associated with this position. Compensation Hiring Range: $58.00
