We are seeking a Design Coordinator to support a major £85m refurbishment of a listed building in Central London, transforming it into a high-quality office and museum space. This role will be key during the final stages of RIBA Stage 3 and the transition into RIBA Stage 4.
Role Overview
The Design Coordinator will support the Senior Design Manager in managing and coordinating the design process, ensuring design information is effectively developed, reviewed, and delivered in line with programme requirements. This is a site-based role requiring close collaboration with consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the coordination of design activities during the completion of RIBA Stage 3 and into Stage 4
* Manage and track design deliverables to ensure timely issue of information
* Support the review of design drawings, specifications, and technical submissions
* Coordinate between consultants, ensuring design alignment and resolving interface issues
* Monitor design progress against programme milestones
* Assist with design meetings, including preparation of agendas, minutes, and action tracking
* Ensure compliance with project requirements, heritage constraints, and statutory approvals
* Support the implementation of design changes and document control procedures
Key Requirements
* Experience working within design coordination on construction or refurbishment projects
* Strong understanding of RIBA Stages 3 and 4 (Design Development and Technical Design)
* Experience working on listed buildings or complex refurbishment projects is highly desirable
* Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design teams effectively
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Proficiency in managing design documentation and workflows
Candidate Profile
* Background in architecture, engineering, or construction-related discipline
* Experience supporting design management teams during pre-construction/design phases (rather than purely delivery/on-site issues)
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
* Comfortable working predominantly on-site with some flexibility
