We are looking for a
**Director, Networks**
who will lead the evolution, delivery, and 24x7 operations of Sobeysu2019 network ecosystem. You are a seasoned leader who is passionate about developing and supporting talent and has a strong track record of executing worldu2011class network programs.
**What youu2019ll be focusing on:**
Accountable for the entire network ecosystem at Sobeys, including connectivity across Stores, Retail Service Centers (RSCs), Warehouses, Customer Fulfillment Centers (CFCs), Data Centers, Cloud, and Offices.
**Strategy & Network Evolution**
Strategy, architecture, and multi-year roadmap for the network portfolio
Stay up to date on networking technology and vendor ecosystem developments, including Generative & Agentic AI use cases
Proof of Concepts (PoC) of emerging technologies and products
Develop, maintain, and enforce network policies & standards
**Delivery**
Scope, design & deliver network projects per the multi-year roadmap
Deliver networking solutions for large enterprise-wide programs
Work with strategic sourcing team to execute RFPs to select solutions and partners
Deliver projects on scope, schedule, budget, and quality
**Operations**
24x7 operations & support of the entire network ecosystem, including many routers, switches, and wireless access points
Drive world-class reliability and performance of the network ecosystem
Diligent capacity planning & hardware/software upgrade schedules
Drive automation and innovative solutions to enhance resiliency
Drive observability programs for proactive network monitoring
Develop and maintain network documentation and disaster recovery plans
**Team Leadership**
Inspire, motivate, and lead the network team consisting of architects, delivery & operations subject matter experts
On-going training & upskilling plans for emerging networking technologies, including Generative & Agentic AI and automation technologies
Drive a highly engaged high performance team, and a culture of reliability & resiliency
Diligent management of project and operating budgets
Drive continuous improvement of portfolio performance by measuring, reporting, and evaluating metrics & KPIs on a monthly cadence
Partner closely with Retail Operations team to support networking needs for the stores
**What you should have:**
An undergraduate degree in engineering, networking, computer science, or IT
10 years of progressive work experience in technology, with minimum 5 years in networks
Deep experience in enterprise network design & operations (LAN/WAN, campus, data center, branch, multi-site, SD-WAN etc.)
Knowledge of routing & switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS etc.) and SD-WAN at scale (Meraki, Fortinet, etc.)
Knowledge of enterprise-grade Wi-Fi design and lifecycle management. Knowledge of Network Access Control (Cisco ISE etc.). Awareness of IoT/OT networking & network segmentation
Experience with cloud networking across major providers (Azure, GCP) & hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPN gateways)
In-depth knowledge of modern architectures (Zero Trust networking, SASE)
Experience with high availability & resiliency design (redundancy, failover, disaster recovery); network performance optimization & capacity planning
Experience with network monitoring & observability platforms (SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, etc.)
Experience with configuration & automation tooling (Python, Ansible, Terraform etc.)
Understanding of network security & cyber security approaches for networking
Deep understanding of change management best practices (ITIL awareness)
The following would be a plus: working experience in a retail networking environment with 1000+ sites, knowledge of store-in-a-box or standardized branch reference architectures, experience in managing a mix of MPLS, broadband, LTE/5G failover
5 years of leading teams, with direct people management experience. Track record of building highly engaged high performance teams
