Our growing logistics operation in Des Moines, Iowa is seeking a reliable and experienced Material Handler to join our team. As a Material Handler, you will play a vital role in the efficient movement and organization of goods within our warehouse. Your duties will include receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping materials, as well as operating various types of warehouse equipment. We prioritize safety above all else, and you will be expected to strictly adhere to all safety protocols and wear the required PPE. This role involves significant physical activity, including frequent lifting of heavy items, and requires stamina and a good physical condition. Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and store incoming materials and products.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Pick and pack orders accurately according to specifications.
- Prepare shipments, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts.
- Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Wear appropriate PPE at all times, including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
- Support overall logistics and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Certification to operate forklifts or other relevant machinery is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 75 pounds).
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and proper PPE usage.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
