Parts Inspector

Job Description

As Parts Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring metal manufactured components meet dimensional and functional standards utilizing bot visual and physical inspection methods. You will be using various gauges and tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, go-no-go gauges, etc. to carry out final inspection and packaging duties to segregate non-conforming product. This is a vital role for maintaining production quality within our manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspection:  Perform in-process and final inspections of parts, comparing them to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Measurement:  Use precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
• Documentation:  Record inspection data, including test results, quantities, and defects, often into excel sheets or SYSPRO/MOM ERP systems.
• Defect Management:  Identify, tag, and isolate non-conforming or defective materials; determine if parts can be reworked or must be scrapped.
• In-Process Inspection : Inspect parts awaiting to be packaged as well as quarantined parts with known defects.
• Reporting:  Notify supervisors or engineering departments of deviations from standards

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Technical Proficiency:  Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Measurement Tool Competency:  Proficient with calipers, micrometers, and other metrology equipment.
• Attention to Detail:  High level of accuracy in identifying defects (e.x., burrs, slug marks, improper dimensions).
• Experience:  Previous experience in quality control or manufacturing environments, particularly with metal components is a plus.

Physical Requirements and Environment

• Work is typically done on a factory floor or in a machine shop environment.
• May require standing for long periods and handling of greasy or dirty parts.
