Job Description:
Lead is now hiring Material Handler/Warehouse Associate for a project in Portland, TN. Material Handler/Warehouse Associate are responsible for the physical movement, storage, and management of materials and products within a warehouse, manufacturing facility, or distribution center. Duties include loading and unloading shipments, operating material-handling equipment like forklifts, organizing and tracking inventory using software, packaging goods, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. This role is crucial for ensuring that materials are delivered and managed efficiently, requiring physical stamina, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team. You will be required to do it all, cross-training. You will be rotating positions in the warehouse.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Handling inbound and outbound shipments, which involves moving, organizing, and preparing packages for delivery or storage.
- Operating various equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, to move materials to their designated locations.
- Storing items properly in designated areas, maintaining organized shelves, and ensuring proper placement of goods.
- Packaging materials for shipment or storage, ensuring that items are secure and protected.
- Adhering to safety guidelines, maintaining clean and clear loading/docking areas, and performing routine cleaning of machinery.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Material Handler/Warehouse Associate.
- The ability to lift heavy items, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive manual labor, average case weight is 35 lbs (10-50lbs range of case rate).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to keep inventory and work areas organized.
- Experience with or willingness to learn to operate machinery like forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Lump trailers, pick cases with MHE, performing receiving/QC audits.
- Clear communication with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to pass a drug test and background check.
