Allentown company  seeks a Material Handler for a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8am-4:30pm.

Daily tasks include: Receiving, moving, saw cutting, painting, labelling and packing weld plate and pipe material; accepting deliveries, loading pick ups, maintaining cleanliness of the shop, and tracking inventory of shop and shipping supplies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Follow written or verbal instructions provided by his/her supervisor including: using a micrometer, vernier caliper, tape measure, and other measuring equipment. This position will work closely with the Material Sales Department and other technicians to support manufacturing.
  • Operate sawing equipment, fork lift and overhead crane in accordance with safety rules.
  • Troubleshoot and replace worn and broken saw blades and inserts and make all machine adjustments necessary to produce parts within specifications. Detects and reports faulty machine operation, defective material and equipment, drawing discrepancies, and other unusual conditions to foreperson.
  • Unload incoming shipments and mark materials with identifying information.
  • Observe safety regulations.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain housekeeping of manufacturing and storage areas, and orderliness of shelves. Maintain workplace in a neat and orderly condition on a daily basis, and perform a general machine and work area cleanup once a week.
  • Seeks clarification when methods or directions are unclear.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Demonstrate the following external qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reasonable mechanical aptitude and good mathematical abilities.
  • The ability to understand and follow instruction whether written or verbal.
  • Must be a U. S. citizen, or lawful permanent resident of the U. S.

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must continually lift, push/pull, carry and/or move material of varying weight. Occasionally required to lift, push/pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to kneel, bend, balance, stoop, or crawl.
  • Frequently required to sit, walk, reach.
  • Continually required to stand and utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision, Normal color vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and occasionally very loud.
  • Continually work near moving mechanical parts.
