About the Team: The Financial Engineering team establishes Coinbase's core financial data and reporting infrastructure, ensuring accurate, timely, and verifiable financial operations. This team collaborates closely with Finance, Accounting/Controllership, Treasury, and Product Engineering to guarantee that financial data is comprehensive, reconciled, and traceable, supporting essential workflows such as month-end closes, safeguarding, and reporting at scale. Key Responsibilities: Develop new services to address pivotal product and business requirements using Golang.
Design scalable systems to tackle innovative challenges using modern cloud technologies and best practices in the industry.
Articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and expanding our backend systems and the teams managing them.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate our product and technical vision into actionable roadmaps each quarter.
Create high-quality, thoroughly tested code tailored to meet customer needs.
What We Look for in You: A minimum of 5 years of software development experience with a focus on creating performant, large-scale distributed systems.
Hands-on experience in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services with a solid understanding of service-oriented architecture.
You produce high-quality, well-tested code that fulfills customer needs effectively.
Proven ability to solve complex engineering challenges that align with team objectives.
Experience mentoring junior developers and providing technical leadership on new initiatives and system enhancements.
A genuine passion for building an inclusive financial system that connects people globally.
Demonstrated ability to responsibly utilize generative AI tools in daily workflows and continuously adapt as technology evolves, implementing human-in-the-loop practices to drive efficiency and quality improvements.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with financial data, accounting systems, or processes involving high-precision transactions.
Background in an organization that has navigated rapid growth.
Familiarity with blockchain technology (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum).
Experience in decomposing large monolithic applications into microservices.
Technical proficiency in Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
Experience building financial, high-reliability, or security systems.

Total compensation may also include equity, bonuses, and benefits like medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
