Overview
Client is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, implement, optimize, and support enterprise network solutions across a complex global environment. This role is ideal for a senior-level engineer with deep expertise in SD-WAN, enterprise routing and switching, wireless networking, and network automation. The Network Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert across modern networking platforms and help drive reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement. Experience supporting manufacturing or OT environments is a strong plus.
Core Responsibilities
Design and implement advanced network solutions across enterprise routing, switching, wireless, and SD-WAN environments
Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize routing protocols including BGP and OSPF to support resilient, high-performing networks
Support Cisco and Arista network infrastructure, including configuration, optimization, and operational support
Architect, deploy, and manage wireless network solutions, with a strong preference for experience with MIST
Develop and maintain network automation workflows using Ansible, Terraform, Python, APIs, and Infrastructure as Code practices
Partner with cross-functional teams to align network strategy and technical solutions with business needs
Create and maintain network documentation, configurations, standards, and SOPs
Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and vendor solutions to improve network performance, scalability, automation, and security
Participate in on-call support and provide after-hours assistance as needed to maintain network reliability
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field
8+ years of IT experience, including experience as a Senior Network Engineer
Strong expertise in enterprise LAN and SD-WAN environments
Advanced experience with routing protocols including BGP and OSPF
Strong experience with switching technologies and enterprise network design
Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco and Arista platforms
Strong experience designing and supporting wireless networks
Advanced automation experience using Ansible, Python, REST APIs, and Infrastructure as Code concepts
Strong troubleshooting, monitoring, and operational support skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional, global environments
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills or Experience
Hands-on experience with MIST wireless solutions
Experience with Terraform
Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or hybrid cloud networking
Arista experience in data center and campus environments
Experience in manufacturing or OT environments
Relevant certifications such as CCNP, Arista ACE L5, or similar
Arista certifications and MIST qualifications
Work Details
Location: Hybrid preferred, 1 day per week onsite; preference for candidates within 1 hour of Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; overtime possible; some flexibility may be required due to global team support
Contract Length: 12-month assignment with possible extension
Travel: Up to 30% possible; approximately 25% domestic and less than 5% international, though travel may increase during critical projects
