The Gist...
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data systems that power analytics and machine learning initiatives. This role focuses on creating reliable, efficient, and secure data pipelines and architectures that enable high-quality data to flow across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate is deeply experienced in data engineering practices, distributed data processing, and cloud-based data platforms. You are passionate about building resilient data infrastructure, optimizing data workflows, and ensuring data is accessible, trusted, and ready for downstream analytics and operational use.
What Sets You Apart... • Experience building and operating high-throughput, production-grade data pipelines • Strong understanding of data architecture patterns (data lakehouse, batch and streaming pipelines) • Ability to design systems that prioritize data reliability, scalability, and maintainability • Experience enabling analytics and ML teams through well-engineered data foundations • Proactive mindset toward automation, performance optimization, and operational excellence
What Your Day Might Include...
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes supporting data lakes, warehouses, and analytics platforms • Build and optimize data ingestion and integration frameworks for structured and unstructured data sources • Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability through validation, monitoring, and automation • Optimize data storage and processing performance using distributed computing technologies (e.g., Spark, Databricks) • Implement best practices for data security, governance, and access control • Develop and maintain data models and schemas optimized for analytics and operational use • Support the deployment and operation of data platforms in cloud environments (AWS or similar) • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts by providing clean, well-structured, and accessible datasets • Continuously improve data architecture by evaluating and adopting modern data engineering tools and frameworks • Provide technical leadership in building and scaling data infrastructure aligned with organizational data strategy
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field • 5-8+ years of experience developing and coding software solutions • Strong experience with Databricks and cloud-based technologies (AWS preferred)
Proven expertise in: • Data engineering, ETL/ELT design, and data integration • Big Data platforms and distributed processing (e.g., Apache Spark) • Data pipeline development and optimization • Data quality, governance, and performance tuning • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or Scala
Certifications (One or More) • AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty • AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty (if using AWS) • Data Science Council of America (DASCA) Certifications • Databricks Certified Machine Learning Associate • Databricks Certified Developer for Apache Spark • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional • Python or Scala programming certification
