About the Role: We are eager to find a Lead Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer who will design and enhance robust compute platforms for simulation, data labeling, and data generation workflows. Your main focus will be on optimizing performance and achieving high utilization of advanced GPUs while ensuring a dependable platform. The ideal candidate has experience in building and managing scalable distributed systems, possesses exceptional problem-solving skills, and takes a proactive approach. In this influential role, you will help shape the architecture, roadmap, and user experience of a resilient service that fulfills our ML simulation and hardware-in-loop validation requirements. We are seeking a candidate with a solid background in designing distributed systems and a commitment to boosting platform efficiency and reliability. This is a high-impact opportunity to significantly influence the future of AI infrastructure at GM. What You'll Be Doing: Collaborate with simulation engineers, ML engineers, and researchers to evaluate critical workflows, transform them into platform requirements, and deliver continuous improvements. Drive the technical roadmap and lead decisions related to compute architecture, caching, capacity provisioning, and auto-scaling mechanisms. Oversee the development of monitoring, observability, and metrics to ensure reliability, performance, and resource optimization. Research and integrate new frameworks, hardware accelerators, and distributed computing techniques. Lead large-scale technical initiatives across GM's ML infrastructure. Enhance engineering practices by offering technical guidance and establishing best practices. At a Minimum We'd Like You To Have: 8+ years of industry experience, specifically in high-performance backend services. Strong expertise in container technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes. Extensive knowledge of Go or similar programming languages. Experience with cloud platforms like GCP, Azure, or AWS. Proven success in delivering cross-functional projects. Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to drive collaborative initiatives. A capacity to excel in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment with changing priorities. Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience with Cloud VM services, particularly Google Compute Engine. Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop validation systems. A background in high-performance computing (HPC). Knowledge of telemetry and feedback loops for product enhancement. Understanding of hardware acceleration (GPUs) and performance optimization techniques. Why Join Us? The compensation details provided are estimates based on market conditions and may not reflect positions outside certain states. The salary range for this role is $197,000 to $326,000, with actual salaries varying based on relevant factors. Bonus Potential:
