This role is ideal for an experienced IT professional with management experience who is seeking a fixed‑term position providing strategic direction and team leadership. You will join a modern, collaborative MAT environment where you can thrive and contribute to delivering a reliable, future‑focused ICT service.
The core purpose of the successful IT Manager will be to lead the organisation’s ICT Services team to deliver the operational elements of the educational provider’s digital strategy, ensuring reliable, secure and efficient technology services that support learners, staff and all stakeholders.
*Responsibilities*
*Leadership & Management*
* Manage and develop the ICT Services Team, ensuring strong performance, conduct and professional growth.
* Oversee staffing levels, workload planning and absence management.
* Provide regular performance updates and KPI reporting to senior leadership.
* Ensure compliance with organisational ICT-related policies, including data protection, acceptable use and health & safety.
* Support the development of a centralised ICT operating model and associated processes.
* Maintain productive relationships with external IT service partners.
* Ensure projects and ICT activities align with broader organisational operations.
*ICT Services Delivery*
* Develop the ICT team in line with organisational priorities.
* Foster a high-quality customer service culture.
* Lead on service desk processes, workflow efficiency and service improvement.
* Represent ICT needs across internal and traded schools.
* Provide technical leadership on major initiatives and implementations.
*Strategy*
* Translate the organisation’s ICT Strategy into clear operational plans.
* Ensure projects and audit actions align with strategic priorities.
* Lead ICT due diligence and integration for new schools joining the organisation.
* Strengthen relationships with external support providers to maximise value and escalation pathways.
*Budget & Finance*
* Manage ICT budgets for both internal and traded services, ensuring compliance and value for money.
* Lead procurement processes, including tendering and framework use.
* Oversee financial planning and profitability for traded ICT services.
*Traded IT Services*
* Lead and expand the traded ICT offer, ensuring it remains sustainable and high‑quality.
* Oversee SLAs, project delivery, costings and service quality assurance.
* Ensure documentation, incident management and infrastructure records meet required standards.
* Maintain strong links with external suppliers and partner schools.
*GDPR & Information Security*
* Lead on data protection compliance across the organisation.
* Maintain policies, retention schedules, privacy notices and FOI arrangements.
* Oversee data incident management and audit readiness.
* Promote data protection awareness across all sites.
* Report to senior leaders and governance groups when required.
*Safeguarding*
* Support the organisation’s safeguarding and online safety agenda.
* Ensure filtering, monitoring and reporting systems are effective.
* Provide technical guidance for online safety measures and staff training.
*Network & Infrastructure*
* Maintain secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure across all sites.
* Lead standardisation, cloud migration and disaster recovery planning.
* Oversee asset management, refresh cycles and technical documentation.
* Manage vendor relationships and reduce downtime.
*Organisational Leadership*
* Build strong ICT relationships across all schools.
* Monitor service balance between internal and traded provision.
* Provide regular reporting for leadership and governance oversight.
* Support schools with IT budget planning and escalation processes.
*Who Should Apply?*
*Senior IT Managers who have:*
*Essential*
* Experience working with a range of IT hardware, software and network topologies
* Excellent troubleshooting skills
* Strong organisational and administration skills
* Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, systems and networking
* Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
*Desirable*
* General IT qualification or vendor certification (e.g., CompTIA A+)
* Knowledge of the Multi‑Academy Trust sector
* Experience defining and reporting against KPIs
*Contract:* Fixed Term – December 2026
*Hours:* 37 per week
*Working Pattern:* Mon–Thu 8:00–16:00, Fri 8:00–15:30
*Reports to:* Chief Operations Lead
*Salary:* £39,000.00 – £45,000.00
