Role purpose (position scope):
The Applications Engineer (AE) is a customer-facing member of the Sales team, responsible for building strong relationships with current and potential customers and providing high-touch support throughout the product lifecycle - from solution selection to installation and operation. The AE partners closely with Business Unit Managers and Business Development Managers to capture the voice of the customer and communicate new product needs to cross-functional development teams.
This role is designed for individuals with a technical background who want to transition into a commercial path. Over time, the AE may take ownership of a defined territory, directly driving bookings, managing customer accounts, and achieving growth targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Engagement & Support
Engage with customers to identify requirements and specify Canyon solutions. Provide after-sales support including installation troubleshooting, product training, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Assist with DoD requirements, including commercial item justifications, where applicable.
Business Capture & Growth
Collaborate with sales team members to capture new business, including opportunity identification, business case development, and proposal generation. Develop strong relationships across assigned accounts; in later phases, assume responsibility for territory growth and direct account ownership.
Voice of Customer & Product Roadmap
Serve as the primary voice of customer, communicating insights to cross-functional product development and engineering teams. Support the cost estimation and pricing process to ensure accuracy and competitiveness. Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the success of the broader company goals.

Confident presentation and communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. Experience with aerospace products/technologies strongly preferred. Achievement of new business wins in target markets. Consistent delivery of above-plan booking and revenue targets. Regular customer engagement, including on-site visits, to grow and maintain relationships. Demonstrated ability to drive value creation for customers and Canyon through solution alignment. None Education and Experience:
Technical bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university or college (MBA preferred but not required). 3-5 years of experience in engineering, applications, or customer-facing technical roles, preferably within aerospace. Experience interfacing with customers or supporting sales preferred. Prior team leadership a plus. Key attributes:

Physical Demands:
Light physical effort in sedentary to light work; may involve lifting/carrying objects up to 10 lbs. Extended periods at a keyboard or workstation. Travel 35-50% (territory/customer dependent). Work Environment:
