As part of the Global Operations - Artificial Intelligence (GO-AI) team at Amazon Robotics, we are driving the evolution of AI-powered robotic solutions, transforming complex visual reasoning tasks from traditional manual data annotation to modern foundation model methodologies. As a Machine Learning Engineer on the GO-AI Technology & Development Team, you will be instrumental in this groundbreaking transformation. You’ll engage with vast proprietary datasets to create vision-language models that reach human-like performance on complicated real-world tasks, influencing millions of daily operations within Amazon’s extensive fulfillment network. This is a unique opportunity to develop AI systems that function at Amazon’s scale while addressing complex technical challenges in computer vision, natural language processing, and human-AI interaction. Collaborate with leading scientists, engineers, and operational teams to transition state-of-the-art research into practical systems that have a global impact. Key Responsibilities: Construct and enhance distributed training infrastructure for large-scale vision-language models. Design and develop high-throughput production inference systems that operate at Amazon scale, ensuring low latency and high reliability. Create extensive data and media processing pipelines to manage vast amounts of video, image, and annotation data for training and evaluation of models. Establish automated retraining pipelines and performance monitoring systems to sustain model accuracy in dynamic production settings. Collaborate closely with scientists and engineers to deliver scalable, high-performance systems that drive cutting-edge AI applications. A Day in the Life:

Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience. 5+ years of programming experience with at least one programming language. 5+ years of experience in designing or architecting systems (including design patterns, reliability, and scaling) for new and existing solutions. Experience leading a team or mentoring others in a technical capacity. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, or Python. Familiarity with ML frameworks such as JAX, PyTorch, and TensorRT. Experience in creating large-scale machine learning and AI solutions. Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years in full software development life cycle, encompassing coding standards, code reviews, source control management, building processes, testing, and operations. Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Experience handling data with massively parallel technologies (like Spark or Hadoop). Knowledge of video and image processing, computer vision, and machine learning methodologies. Experience in training and deploying machine learning systems for large-scale optimizations. Ability to work cross-functionally with various tech teams. Understanding of automation control systems and protocols. Strong foundation in linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics.
