Job Overview:

The HELOC Lending Specialist is responsible for originating, processing, and closing Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs) and home equity loans. As a subject matter expert in home equity products, you will deliver a superior member experience, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide loans from application through funding. This role also focuses on proactively identifying home equity opportunities to help members meet their financial needs.

  • Member Consultation & Relationship Building
    • Assist members in understanding HELOC and home equity loan options and guide them through the application process.
    • Build trust-based relationships by understanding members' financial goals and providing tailored home equity solutions.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to deepen member relationships through additional credit union products and services.
  • Loan Origination & Processing
    • Ensure all HELOC applications are accurate, complete, and compliant with federal and state regulations and credit union policies.
    • Coordinate disbursement of approved HELOCs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
    • Maintain thorough documentation for all home equity transactions.
  • Business Development & Portfolio Growth
    • Drive business growth through timely follow-up on member inquiries, outbound/inbound calls, referrals, new memberships, and third-party resources.
    • Leverage member data and portfolio analytics to identify HELOC opportunities and collaborate with MLOs to grow loan portfolios.
  • Compliance & Collaboration
    • Ensure all lending activities comply with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure a seamless and positive member experience.
    • Provide support and training to team members on lending policies and procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's/Bachelor's in finance, business, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years in lending, financial services, or related role
  • Must obtain NMLS, Wisconsin Notary, and E-Notary License
  • Knowledge of consumer lending, underwriting, and regulations
  • Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
