Dell Technologies is seeking an accomplished Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead and evolve our mission‑critical Kubernetes on Bare Metal platform that powers internal applications, Federal workloads, and product engineering teams. This is a high‑visibility role influencing core platform strategy, architecture, reliability, and automation for one of Dell’s most critical infrastructure services. You will be the technical authority (SME) for our enterprise container ecosystem—driving innovation, solving complex engineering challenges at scale, and elevating the developer experience for thousands of internal customers.

In this Senior Principal role, you will shape the future of our container platform and ensure its resilience, scalability, and operational excellence. You will work at the intersection of platform engineering, infrastructure architecture, and Kubernetes operations on bare metal systems.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Dell’s Kubernetes on Bare Metal container platform across IT, Federal, and Product engineering organizations Partner with application teams to enable adoption, tune platform capabilities, and troubleshoot complex distributed systems issues Develop high‑quality technical solutions aligned with business and platform roadmaps Mentor, train, and guide junior and mid‑level engineers to elevate overall team capability Act as a domain expert in Kubernetes, container networking, platform reliability, and infrastructure automation
8–12+ years of professional experience in Kubernetes based Infrastructure/platform engineering ~ Hands-on experience with patches, upgrades, and maintenance of Kubernetes platforms ~ Citizen (required for participation in Federal projects) ~ Deep proficiency in Linux internals, storage fundamentals, and Kubernetes, including: Strong programming skills in Shell, Python, Helm, and related automation frameworks ~ Experience with observability and telemetry tools (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk, etc.) ~ Demonstrated success working in Agile teams—both independently and in highly distributed environments
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience Experience with AI and emerging Agentic AI tooling for automation or operations
