The Opportunity
Want to lead a flagship mechanical package on one of Central London’s most high-profile refurbishments?
We are working with a leading building services contractor delivering a major £36M MEP refurbishment of a prime commercial asset in the West End.
The scheme involves a full transformation of an existing building, taking it through shell & core upgrade and into high-spec commercial space, requiring complex phasing, coordination, and high-end delivery standards.
This is a key role within the project team, offering full ownership of the mechanical package on a technically challenging, logistically complex central London scheme.
The Role
As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of the mechanical services package from design and procurement through to installation, commissioning, and handover.
You will work closely with senior project leadership, managing subcontractors, driving programme, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety on site.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Take full ownership of the mechanical package on a major commercial refurbishment Lead the project from pre-construction through to completion and handover
- Ensure delivery in line with programme, budget, and quality expectations
Design & Technical Management
- Manage the development and coordination of mechanical design
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical submissions
- Identify and resolve design clashes and technical challenges
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, standards, and client requirements
- Procurement & Commercial Awareness
- Oversee procurement of mechanical plant, materials, and subcontract packages
- Develop and manage procurement schedules aligned to programme
- Work closely with commercial teams on cost control and reporting
- Monitor project performance against budget and targets
Construction & Delivery
- Manage site teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient delivery
- Coordinate mechanical installation with other trades and main contractor
- Drive programme and sequencing across a constrained central London site
- Ensure works are delivered safely and to the highest quality standards
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the key point of contact for mechanical services on the project
- Build strong relationships with client, consultants, and main contractor
- Lead and contribute to progress meetings and reporting
Commissioning & Handover
- Manage mechanical commissioning strategy and execution
- Oversee testing, snagging, and final handover processes
- Ensure a smooth transition to completion with minimal defects
The Candidate
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager on large commercial projects
- Strong background delivering refurbishment or shell & core schemes in London
- Experience managing mechanical packages typically £10M+
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services
- Experience managing projects through design, procurement, and delivery phases
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to manage complex logistics and sequencing in a live/central London environment
