We are seeking a meticulous and organized Shipping Clerk to join our team in Madison, Wisconsin. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company and carrier regulations. Your attention to detail is crucial for managing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining the integrity of our logistics operations. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Verify that all orders are accurately picked and packed before shipment.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Operate shipping software and systems to manage and record outgoing logistics.
- Inspect outgoing packages for damage and ensure proper labeling.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, carriers, and customers regarding shipment status.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records related to shipments.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role is required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in using computers and shipping software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of shipping regulations and carrier procedures.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the use of appropriate PPE.
