Our Chicago, Illinois distribution center is looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our dedicated logistics team. This position is vital for ensuring that customer orders are accurately prepared, documented, and dispatched efficiently. You will be responsible for reviewing orders, selecting appropriate shipping methods, preparing shipping labels, and coordinating with carriers. Responsibilities:
- Review daily shipping orders for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and print shipping labels and other necessary documentation.
- Select the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods.
- Coordinate with freight carriers for pick-ups and deliveries.
- Ensure all outgoing shipments are properly packaged and secured.
- Maintain accurate shipping records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Load outgoing shipments onto trucks, verifying contents.
- Conduct quality checks on packed orders before shipment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Communicate with internal departments and external carriers to resolve shipping issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations is preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and WMS.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Understanding of shipping regulations and documentation.
- Commitment to safety protocols, including the use of PPE and safe lifting practices.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
