We are seeking a motivated and reliable Shipping & Receiving Associate to join our dynamic logistics team in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role is crucial for the efficient flow of goods in and out of our warehouse. You will be responsible for accurately processing incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring the safe handling of all materials. Your attention to detail will be key to minimizing errors and optimizing warehouse operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within the logistics industry.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders and invoices.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage and discrepancies, reporting any issues immediately.
- Accurately pick, pack, and prepare outgoing orders for shipment according to established procedures.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring aisles and loading docks are clear.
- Manage inventory levels by performing regular cycle counts and assisting with physical inventories.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team.
- Document all shipping and receiving activities accurately in the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Ensure all outbound shipments are correctly labeled and staged for carrier pickup.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss performance, safety, and operational improvements.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of logistics principles and best practices.
- Comply with all regulations related to the safe Lifting and movement of heavy items.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a warehouse or shipping/receiving role is preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with warehouse management systems is a plus. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills required. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and understand the importance of safety protocols. Commitment to following safety guidelines and wearing required PPE.
