We are hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead the team behind the ABC News application. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a premier news platform, focused on informing and inspiring the public. You will oversee a skilled team of 8-10 engineers developing playback functionality for both the ABC News Mobile app and living room devices like Android TV, Fire TV, tvOS, Kepler, and Roku. Your expertise in mobile technologies and video playback will be essential in driving success in this role. You will also have the chance to support the Marvel Unlimited and Star Wars mobile applications as needed. Join us to: Nurture and grow a world-class collaborative team of software engineers.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee the development of robust applications for Android, iOS, tvOS, and multiple other platforms.
Identify team growth opportunities and enhance collaboration methods.
Work closely with developers to ensure sustainable and quality code solutions.
Manage production challenges while creatively solving unique problems.
Act as the liaison for 2-3 agile teams throughout the application development lifecycle.
Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of learning through code reviews and collaborative programming.
Create developmental opportunities that allow for progression and skill enhancement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align expectations and manage evolving projects.
Qualifications: 8 years of relevant technical experience.
At least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
Expertise in mobile development languages and platforms.
Proven experience managing teams, delegating tasks, and juggling competing priorities.
Familiarity with integrating backend systems, web services, and third-party software.
Strong knowledge of video playback and advertising technologies.
Commitment to high standards of quality in coding and application design.
Additional Skills: A growth mindset with a passion for mentoring and providing constructive feedback.
Experience in proposing and discussing practical solutions with various stakeholders, both technical and non-technical.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
This position is based in Glendale, California, with a salary range from $171,600 to $230,100, and in New York City, the range is $179,700 to $241,000 annually. Compensation will be determined based on internal equity, geographic region, and the candidate's qualifications.
