Antenna Chief Engineer (m/f/d)

Ericsson is one of the leading providers of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to service providers, with about 40 % of the world-s mobile traffic carried through our networks. We enable the full value of connectivity by crafting groundbreaking technology and services that are easy to use, adopt and scale, making our customers successful in a fully connected world. For more than 140 years, our ideas, technology and people have changed the world: real turning points that have transformed lives, industries and society as a whole. Are you in?

The Antena Chief Engineer is the technical authority and end-to-end integration owner for Active Antenna Systems, leading the product journey from concept through design, industrialization, verification, and lifecycle management.

In this role, you will drive system architecture and systemization, including array geometry, beamforming, and spatial radiation performance. You will align and lead multidisciplinary engineering functions-spanning array design, signal distribution, and mechanical development-while ensuring compliance with industry standards such as 3GPP and NGMN.

Working cross-functionally with Product Design, Systems & Technology, Product Management, Verification, NPI, and Supply, you will translate technical excellence into competitive advantage-delivering best-in-class performance, cost efficiency, quality, and time-to-market.

  • Lead cross function integration between Product Design Departments to synthesize diverse subfunctions into cohesive, high-performing products (A+P, FDD AAS antenna units).
  • Guide architecture & design reviews through the Opportunity Analysis (OA) framework, RACI accountability, Technical Readiness Level breakdown, and statement of compliance.
  • Plan & oversee verification/validation: define tests for antenna unit verification and system verification; align with Launch Management & Verification Coordination.
  • Industrialization readiness: align design with manufacturing constraints, supply chain, and DFM practices; ensure smooth transition to NPI.
  • Technical leadership: act as the Chief Engineer-set technical direction, arbitrate design choices, and ensure interface integrity (mechanical/electrical).
  • System documentation: own creation and quality of product data sheets, block diagrams, and pattern files; maintain traceability from requirements to validation.
  • Performance, cost & quality optimization: evolve designs for competitiveness and scalability (variants via partner ecosystem).
  • Risk & issue management: identify bottlenecks across competencies and propose mitigation.
  • Stakeholder alignment: interface with Systems, Supply Product Management, Program/Project Management, and Verification to synchronize goals and deliverables.
  • Technical mentoring: support and upskill engineers across RF simulation, RF hardware, mechanical design, and signal distribution to strengthen execution.

  • Master-s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, RF/Communications, Physics, or related field.
  • Strong expertise in antenna/RF systems with direct experience in AAS/Massive MIMO (array systemization, beamforming, calibration, TDD/FDD).
  • Proven track record as a Chief Antenna Engineer driving complex, cross-functional hardware and simulation of antenna systems from concept to launch.
  • Deep knowledge of 3GPP/NGMN requirements and verification methodologies for antenna units and AAS systems.
  • Fluency in RF simulation tools and system modeling; familiarity with pattern libraries and design data management.
  • Work closely with Product Management, S&T, Verification, Supply, NPI, and development partners to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
  • Provide technical direction and coaching to RF simulation, RF hardware, mechanical, and verification engineers; act as the escalation point for system trade-off

  • An international working environment with cooperative teams
  • 30 vacation days per year
  • Excellent learning and personal development opportunities within Ericsson Corporation, regular courses, seminars, and on-the-job training
  • Ergonomic workplace
  • Company cell phone also for private use
  • Corporate benefits–portal with special conditions for travel, insurance, events, fashion, and much more
