Our growing company in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our logistics team. This role is critical for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurate, properly documented, and dispatched efficiently. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and dedicated to maintaining high standards of service and safety. You will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring that all items are correctly packed and labeled. We foster a safe work environment and require all employees to follow strict safety guidelines, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This role requires careful handling and awareness of shipping regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation.
- Verify outgoing shipments against customer orders to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Package items securely and appropriately for transport.
- Maintain organized shipping records and files.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant departments or customers.
- Inspect outgoing packages for damage before dispatch.
- Operate shipping software and warehouse management systems.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and wear required PPE.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as needed, supporting the logistics flow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or administrative support is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office and shipping software.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with various shipping methods and carrier requirements.
- Understanding of warehouse safety protocols and the use of PPE.
- Physical ability to handle packages up to 30 lbs may be required.
