We are seeking a reliable and motivated Shipping & Receiving Associate to join our dynamic logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa. This role is crucial to the efficient flow of goods within our warehouse operations. You will be responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining a clean and organized dock area. This position offers a competitive hourly wage and the opportunity to grow within a leading logistics company.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders or invoices.
- Inspect goods for damage and report any discrepancies immediately.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by accurately picking, packing, and labeling products according to company standards and customer requirements.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely to move materials within the warehouse.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Utilize warehouse management system (WMS) to track inventory and update shipment statuses.
- Adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, including safety shoes and high-visibility vests.
- Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and carriers.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a shipping and receiving role is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, up to 50 lbs, regularly.
- Proficiency in using pallet jacks and/or forklifts is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of logistics and supply chain principles.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
