We are looking for a diligent Material Handler to join our bustling warehouse facility in Portland, Oregon. As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in the efficient movement and organization of materials throughout the warehouse. Your responsibilities will include receiving, storing, picking, and staging materials for production or shipment. This role demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to Safety. You will work with various types of equipment to ensure goods are handled properly and stored correctly. Understanding inventory control principles and contributing to a seamless logistics flow are key aspects of this position. The use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all times. This role involves regular Lifting and requires a proactive approach to maintaining an orderly and safe workspace.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, identify, and store incoming materials accurately.
- Pick, pack, and stage materials for outgoing shipments or production needs.
- Operate manual and powered equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and potentially forklifts (if certified).
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper handling and documentation.
- Transport materials to and from various locations within the warehouse.
- Ensure all materials are stored in designated areas, properly labeled, and organized.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including proper Lifting techniques and the use of required PPE.
- Participate in cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Keep the work area clean, safe, and free from obstructions.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals and support overall logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Ability to perform frequent Lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
- Basic understanding of inventory management and warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with logistics processes.
- Knowledge of Safety procedures and best practices.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and operate different types of warehouse equipment.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
