We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our team in Detroit, Michigan. This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all outbound shipments. The Shipping Clerk will be responsible for preparing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers, verifying order accuracy, and ensuring all packages meet shipping requirements. A keen eye for detail and a commitment to Safety are essential. This position is a vital link in our logistics chain, ensuring our products reach customers efficiently and correctly. Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare shipping labels, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation.
- Verify outgoing shipments against customer orders for accuracy.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Inspect packages to ensure they are properly sealed, labeled, and meet carrier requirements.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Communicate with warehouse staff and other departments regarding shipment status.
- Handle customer inquiries related to shipping and delivery.
- Assist with loading and unloading of trucks as needed, ensuring safe practices.
- Adhere to all company Safety policies and procedures.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a related logistics role.
- Proficiency in shipping software and basic computer skills (MS Office).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and verification.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with different shipping carriers and their requirements.
- Ability to perform moderate Lifting of packages up to 40 lbs.
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of Safety.
- Must be reliable and able to meet deadlines.
