Are you passionate about quality and precision? At Dover Precision Components , we are on the lookout for a dedicated Goods Inwards Quality Inspector to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will uphold our high-quality standards by ensuring that all incoming components and materials meet our rigorous specifications before they enter our inventory.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Goods Inwards Quality Inspector, you will:

  • Conduct First Article Inspections and create detailed reports.
  • Perform First Off Checks within the goods inwards area.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and manage the retention of inspection records.
  • Release or reject goods based on quality assessments.
  • Verify supplier certifications and ensure proper documentation retention.
  • Quarantine goods as necessary and ensure calibration of inspection equipment.
  • Notify Quality Engineers of customer returns and assist in creating MRR/CAR documentation.
  • Participate in T-card initiatives for Safety, Continuous Improvement, and FPOs.
  • Scan documentation and maintain electronic filing systems.
  • Liaise with various departments including Stores, Purchasing, Planning, and Manufacturing.
  • Create certificates of conformance and participate in Tier II meetings.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned by management.
What You Bring to the Table

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience in a quality inspection role within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong competency in reading and understanding engineering drawings, including geometric tolerances.
  • Proficiency with conventional metrology gauges such as micrometers.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office and a commitment to a Health and Safety culture.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • SVQ3, HNC, or a time-served apprenticeship in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (or equivalent).
Desirable Skills and Experience

While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give you an edge:

  • UT/PT (SNT or PCN) qualification.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Experience with problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with Co-ordinate Measurement Machines (CMM).
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
