THRIVE Academy is a Trauma-Informed, Therapeutic school serving students in grades K–12 from 27+ partner districts across Iowa. As part of the Manson Northwest Webster Community School District, THRIVE provides an alternative educational setting for students with social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
Our elementary program is intentionally designed with small class sizes, high levels of adult support, and a student-centered approach, helping students build the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills needed to successfully transition back to their resident districts.
Position SummaryWe are seeking a Full-Time Elementary Classroom Teacher to work primarily with students in grades K–4 in a self-contained classroom of up to 7 students. This role blends strong instructional practices with intentional social-emotional and behavioral supports.
At THRIVE, elementary teachers teach more than content-they help students develop trust, self-regulation, and confidence while fostering a love of learning in a safe and nurturing environment.
What You'll Do- Teach students in grades K–4 across core academic areas and social skills.
- Create and maintain a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment.
- Deliver differentiated instruction to meet diverse academic and developmental needs.
- Integrate social-emotional learning and behavior skill development into daily instruction.
- Utilize effective de-escalation strategies to support students during moments of dysregulation.
- Demonstrate strong classroom management and relationship-building practices.
- Collaborate closely with special education staff, student support staff, and administrators.
- Monitor, document, and communicate student progress academically, behaviorally, and socially.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice.
- A patient, flexible, and compassionate educator who enjoys working with young learners.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn trauma-informed and therapeutic practices.
- Ability to meet students where they are and celebrate growth-big and small.
- Commitment to helping students develop skills needed for successful.
- Iowa Teaching License
- K–6 Elementary Classroom Teacher Endorsement
- Very small class sizes (up to 8 students)
