Description: Job Summary: Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Security Department to provide maximum safety and security for students, staff, center property and the surrounding community. Ensures proper screening of staff, students, and visitors entering and exiting the site. Duties/Responsibilities:Schedule: Friday - Tuesday, 1:30pm - 9:00pmMust create and sustain positive working relationships with co-workers. Adheres to all Procedure Requirements Handbook (PRH) and Career Systems Development (CSD) policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures.Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor. Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, CSD, and DOL standards, including conducting quarterly property counts, submitting property relocation requests, may serve as a property custodian, and submits maintenance requests as needed. Enforces all laws, rules and regulations. Enforces the Zero Tolerance Policy and reports violations immediately to supervisor and/or duty officer. Patrols assigned areas and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions. Performs building security and safety checks and inspections. Receives complaints, investigates complaints, and documents facts incident reports, investigation summary reports.Responds to any reports of disturbances, unauthorized visitors, medical emergencies, and may be asked to search and quickly locate students upon request.Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Qualifications:Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent. Two years work-related experience. May require a Guard Card or ability to obtain a Guard Card per State requirements. Preferred: Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or closely related field. Safety Certifications, law enforcement experience. Extensive experience. Knowledge: Knowledge of investigative techniques. Knowledge of riot and crowd control techniques. Knowledge of law enforcement procedures. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license. Must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA certificates. Ability to effectively relate to trainee population. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
