Job Title: Unit Handling Product Engineer I Division: Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI)

Job Status: Full Time Travel Required: 0-10%
Revision Date: March 16, 2026 Reports To: Product Engineering Manager
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Responsible for design and technical support of specific products and processes by performing duties and responsibilities listed below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
More specifically, the person will:
- Execute product design projects, cost reduction projects, new product creations, and provide project management assistance under the direction of their supervisor.
- Formulate creative and efficient design solutions maintaining structural integrity of the product while optimizing customer desires, feature requirements, cost, manufacturing through-put goals, industry standards and accepted best practice.
- Provide technical support, field application support and technical data to all other areas of the company as needed to meet or exceed our customer expectations.
- Under the direction of their manager, collaborate with cross functional teams to carry out duties and responsibilities.
- Analyze and comprehend engineering concepts and manufacturing methods related to steel fabrication design.
- Develop bills of materials, manufacturing routings and standards for products.
- Use computer assisted equipment for design and creation of drawings of products.
- Maintain awareness of project schedules and report status to supervisor to assure timelines and completeness of work are met. (Includes: material acquisition, outsourced drafting, MRP system loading, production planning, others)
- Support maintenance and improvement of products, processes, and communication tools.
- Plan and execute given tasks in a timely manner and within deadlines.
- Provide technical information to production, inventory, purchasing, sales and other internal customers.
- Regularly participate in additional training related to the job and community service consistent with PPI Vision and Values.
- Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area.
- Demonstrate regular, consistent attendance while maintaining availability during normal business hours.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Demonstrated proficiency in basic algebra, trigonometry, geometry, physics and chemistry concepts.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
- Capable in gaining competence in engineering areas such as: static stress analysis, mechanics of materials, mechanical component design, fatigue analysis, tolerance stack up and other areas of engineering design.
- Capable of acquiring proficiency in Auto-CAD and SOLIDWORKS and SW PDM software.
- Capable of acquiring proficiency in FEA software.
EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS
Technical Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university; or
Three to four years related experience and/or training; or
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES
- Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (preferred)
- Capable of acquiring MSHA Safety Training certificate
- Capable of acquiring a passport without travel restrictions in North and South America
- Valid Driver’s license required with the ability to drive company vehicles.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear alarms of equipment, hear customers, and to hear instructions from others.
ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
- The noise level in the work environment is usually MODERATE.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), outdoor weather conditions and extreme heat (non-weather).
- The employee performs work in an office, manufacturing, and outdoor setting as needed.
- Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection when in production environments.
