Join the UTR Planning Tech team, where we are revolutionizing the data infrastructure that drives labor planning across various Amazon last-mile and sort-center business lines. Our advanced pipelines fuel the planning systems that manage staffing for Amazon’s delivery network, impacting hundreds of sites and handling millions of data points every day. As we transition from traditional, hand-coded pipelines to an innovative AI-native approach, we are establishing reusable frameworks that empower both engineers and business users to specify their requirements through configurations and natural language. With AI agents orchestrating, validating, and deploying workflows, this is your chance to get in on the ground floor of an exciting transformation where you will help shape the future of our systems. We are seeking a passionate Data Engineer to take charge of significant aspects of our data architecture, spearhead the development of AI-powered frameworks, and create data solutions that will enhance planning accuracy across Amazon's vast delivery network. Key Responsibilities: Design and maintain logical and physical data models for major datasets, ensuring they are coherent and serve multiple downstream consumers.
Build and optimize ETL pipelines for complex datasets using AWS services (e.g., Redshift, S3, EMR, Glue, Lambda, Athena) and Python-based orchestration (such as Airflow/MWAA) to ensure efficiency and maintainability.
Create configuration-driven data frameworks that minimize repetitive custom code by using reusable, declarative patterns for ingestion, transformation, and metric curation.
Develop AI agent tooling and interfaces that enable conversational agents to generate SQL, validate configurations, manage data quality rules, and execute pipeline operations using natural language.
Oversee ongoing data quality for the datasets you create by implementing standardized data contracts, defining SLAs, and automating data quality processes.
Collaborate with planning scientists, software engineers, BI engineers, and product managers to balance technical and customer requirements, influencing both what and how we build.
Enhance self-service access to data by building analytical data models and tools that reduce reliance on the data engineering team for common data access patterns.
Streamline engineering processes by automating manual tasks, establishing monitoring and alerting standards, and promoting code quality and dependency management practices.
Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing knowledge about data solutions construction, operation, and integration within the broader architecture.
Participate in the recruitment process to help grow our talented team.
