We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic team in New York City, New York. This position is crucial for managing the timely and accurate dispatch of all outgoing shipments, playing a vital role in our overall logistics strategy. You will be responsible for processing orders, preparing shipping documents, and coordinating with freight carriers. A proactive approach and adherence to strict safety standards are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Process all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy in order fulfillment and destination details.
- Generate and apply shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required paperwork.
- Coordinate with local and national shipping carriers for timely pickups and deliveries.
- Conduct inspections of outgoing packages to ensure they meet packaging and quality standards.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate shipping records within the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Liaise with other departments to resolve shipping-related inquiries or issues.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant shipping regulations and company policies.
- Strictly follow all company safety guidelines and use appropriate PPE at all times.
- Provide assistance in receiving areas when required, which may involve manual lifting .
- Contribute to the efficient operation of our logistics department through diligent work practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping clerk role or similar capacity within a logistics environment.
- Proficiency in using shipping software and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with carrier requirements and shipping procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced urban setting.
- Capability for occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs.
- Commitment to upholding workplace safety standards and utilizing all necessary PPE .
- Understanding of the broader logistics landscape is advantageous.
